Metal Coupling Unlocks Nb₂O₅

Scientific Question

Can difficult-to-reduce Nb₂O₅ function as an active oxide for thermocatalytic CO₂ hydrogenation?

Core Finding

Rh activates H₂ and drives interfacial hydrogen transfer, partially reducing Nb₂O₅ into defective NbOₓ. Reciprocal electronic coupling stabilizes Rhδ⁺ and creates a working Rhδ⁺–Oᵥ–Nb⁴⁺ interface.
